Camp History and Description
Camp Eagle Hill was founded in the late winter of 1963 and opened for its first summer the very same year. A one-time dude ranch, where guests would visit to ride horses, milk cows, and enjoy the great outdoors, Camp Eagle Hill started with just a few buildings and facilities. In 1963, sixty campers experienced an unforgettable summer, participating in lots of activities and building lifelong friendships.
Over the years, Eagle Hill has added tremendously to its facility, and is now filled with beautiful sports fields and courts, two swimming pools, a large double looped go-cart track and many large indoor areas providing our campers with a choice of activities regardless of the weather. Although the camp population these days is in the range of about 250 campers, Eagle Hill has maintained its sense of history from the early days, promoting the same qualities of participation and camaraderie as it has during the past five decades.
Situated in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains, on our own private spring-fed lake, Camp Eagle Hill is a beautiful 200 acre facility that blends a perfect mixture of open grassy fields, rolling hills, and woodlands. Few camps possess the number of large indoor areas found at Eagle Hill - a tremendous gymnasium with our Eagle Hill theater at one end (Big Red), a new Games Building (Little Red), a large Creative Arts Center (The Barn), a combination Recreation Hall/Canteen (The Lodge), as well as a spacious Dining Room. All of these areas serve us well during periods of rainy weather. Our wood frame constructed cabins are all new, safe, and quite comfortable, each complete with full bathrooms.
